Experience

Chavalit Uttasart is a longtime legal practitioner who is recognized by Chambers Asia 2009 Edition as being “extremely experienced” having been “in the field for a long time, and his considered advice reflects this”. He is also a recommended dispute resolution lawyer in the “PLC Cross-border Dispute Resolution Handbook” (“Which Lawyer?”), is “highly recommended for contentious work” by Legal 500 Asia Pacific and is considered a “leading individual” in the Thai intellectual property industry.


With over thirty years experience, his areas of specialization include intellectual property, e-commerce, telecommunications and corporate law, as well as cases involving trade competition, corporate recovery and business reorganization, foreign investment and mergers & acquisitions.


Some of his recent deals and projects comprise:

  • advising a group of investors in the acquisition of a securities company;
  • advocating for a commercial bank in arbitration proceedings relating to a dispute over a supply of software system;
  • advising a LPG corporation in the sale of its entire business;
  • assisting the Plan Administrator in the sale of a beer production business to another brewery;
  • acting as legal advisor to the Plan Administrator of one of Thailand’s largest cement manufacturer on its business reorganization proceedings; and
  • most recently, planning legal strategy for a leading mobile telecommunications service operator in the matter of the 3G frequency wave allocation auction proceedings.

Career and Education

Chavalit Uttasart is managing and founding partner of the Chavalit Law Group. Before establishing the Group in 2005, he was a partner at International Legal Counsellors Thailand Ltd. (ILCT) (Russin & Vecchi).

As head of the group, Chavalit Uttasart actively oversees all of our practices and service areas, as well as events and activities.
